The first thing to do if your pet is lost is to contact your local animal control agency / police department and then all animal shelters and veterinarians in your area. Give them the best description you possibly can, along with your name, address, phone number, and the last known location of your pet.

Often a good samaritan will pick your dog up, but may not know where to take him.

It is important to move quickly since pets can travel miles in very little time when they are disoriented and trying to find their way back home.

We highly recommend having your pet microchipped to further assist in helping to locate them.  Check out our Lost and Found page for more information on what to do if you have lost or found a pet.
